Eventually we may reach the point where every moment of sadness is no longer experienced as a whole life that’s going badly – but just as a moment that feels sad.

By putting our attention on the things we are grateful for, we can shift how much time we spend in sadness and how quickly we return to joy.

The loving mind can observe joy and peace in one moment, and then grief in the next moment, and it will not be shattered by the change.

A supple mind accepts change and is not attached to the past. Rather than lamenting change, it finds new beauty and hope in it. That is a life to which to aspire.
